Grow hybridomas without bovine IgG in your culture medium.
Request Sample/QuoteFBS contains bovine IgG that binds Protein A/G and co-purifies with your monoclonal antibody, contaminating the final product. Low-IgG serum costs more, and every FBS lot behaves a little differently.
Replace FBS with YEX at 10%. In testing by Leinco Technologies, mouse, rat and hamster hybridomas grew in YEX with viability comparable to FBS, and antibody made in YEX bound its antigen identically to antibody made in FBS. Because YEX is egg-derived, it contains no bovine IgG, and the chicken IgY it does contain did not co-purify. Antibody output per cell varies by clone, so we recommend a side-by-side pilot with your own line.
No bovine IgG in YEX medium, so none can carry over into your purified antibody
Antibody made in YEX binds its antigen just like antibody made in FBS
More antibody per cell in YEX, with equal or higher output in 6 of 8 cultures
Data: Leinco Technologies, 2023-2025.

Bovine IgG heavy and light chains appear in protein-purified material from FBS medium but not from YEX medium. Chicken IgY from YEX does not co-purify, falling to assay background in the eluate.

Antibody made in YEX binds its antigen identically to antibody made in FBS.

Hybridomas from mouse, rat and hamster lines maintained high viability in YEX.

At the fifth passage, growth in YEX was comparable or higher for 3 of 5 lines.

Antibody output per cell is clone-dependent: equal or higher in YEX for 6 of 8 cultures.

In a 10-day bioreactor run, YEX cells made 2–4× more antibody each, but the FBS culture reached more cells and more total antibody. We recommend a side-by-side pilot with your own clone.
Substitute 10% YEX for 10% FBS in your hybridoma medium. In Leinco’s tests, 10% unfiltered YEX performed better than 5% or filtered YEX.
Recommended product: Suspension formulation, YEX-005 (500 mL) / YEX-007 (50 mL).
